Poem: Little Wings - Written 3/4/08
Dedicated to Josie, a lovely creature who brought so much joy in such a short space of time.

Little Wings
Little wings fraily flutter
Eyes like dewdrops blink
A tiny heart beats in the palm of my hand
Slower and slower, fading away.
A short little life, of a tiny bird
Wasting the hours chirping with glee
Lived of love of those around him
Crabby, gentle, cheeky, sweet.
That is where I am now, watching as he rests on the vast, soft pillows
So small, so insignificant, low on the scale of existance...
But if that's so, then answer me why,
Why, if this is so,
If this one creature is of so little importance,
Why...
Why do my tears flow so hard, so free....
Like a little bird taking off into the sky?
